Post all of your suggestions and ideas for the forum here. I am currently figuring out how to change the look of the forum, how we should group threads, etc.

No suggestions yet but a question for anyone who's familiary with EZboards- Is there a way to set yourself up so the threads will automatically go to the last post you read? I'm looking but not seeing anything about it.

Re: Suggestions | ||

so if we are stuck being our own bookmark, could it perhaps be arranged to have a new thread each day? Perhaps on hampster time (say noon to noon eastern time?).

It's funny to keep hitting reload on the pages as Highwaygirl experiments with the color scheme!

I suggest that you not make a mockery off me by adding humiliating commentary to my name.

Maybe someone could set up one of those virtual shops and we could get "fist shirts"?

I thought I saw the timezone mentioned somewhere, but I can't find it again, so I will post this here since it's kinda where it belongs anyway: Maybe the timezone could be whatever HT is?

New Threads | ||
|
Count me in the "New threads each day" camp. Especially with this board not remembering what the last post you saw was, trying to wade through what could quickly reach thousands of posts again is a bit of an annoyance...
If not a new thread each day, then at least a new feed thread every week... And to the person that asked what time the Hamsters are on, they're on Pacific Daylight time. 3 hours behind New York, 2 Hours behind Chicago, and -8:00 GMT (for you brits out there) |

Re: Pinned Threads | ||
|
Highwaygirl, would you be willing to consider removing the Pinned threads? Since there's only the 5 feeds at this point with three pinned, it's hard to follow when there are new posts in a thread since only the bottom two switch places when a new post goes in. Or maybe only have the "read this now" type thread pinned?
Unless there's a better way that I'm not thinking of? |

Re: Pinned Threads | ||
Quote: Meggin, after you read through a thread you can click on "Mark Forum Read" at the top of Big Brother 3 Live Feed Recaps page. Then, when there are new posts in a thread, an envelope will appear next to that thread. Granted, it's kind of a pain to do this after each time you read a thread, and it's definitely a pain compared to what we're used to, but it has helped me a little. Also, maybe after we all settle in and people get used to using the EZBoard, there will be fewer pinned topics. |

Re: Timezone | ||
|
Guelph35, what I meant by the timezone post was that I had read somewhere (I have since found it in the beginning of the LF Thread itself), that HG was changing the timezone the posts were tagged with. I think she changed it to EST to keep some consistancy with TWoP, but I was thinking that since most of the recappers post HT in their recaps, it might help out if the post tags where in HT (PST, as you said).
Sorry 'bout the confusion. |

Re: pinned threads | ||

Hipp, I've been using the mark as read thing but similar to TWoP, it marks all the threads in the fourm as read, not just the ones you've actually read. Since we don't have those handy little arrows (I never saw the point until now), if the things with the newest post were pushed to the top, I just think it would be easier to tell what's new and what's not. But just a suggestion.

Re: pinned threads | ||

I have to agree with Meggin. It's hard to keep track of the new posts because of all the pinned threads. But if any thread should be pinned, I think it should be the recaps thread. Just my one dollar, three cents.

Re: pinned threads | ||

Meggin, I understand what you're saying, and it's a valid suggestion. I'm having a hell of a time noting what I've read and what I haven't read. Hold tight for now...eventually there will be more threads and probably fewer pinned threads, and it will be easier to tell which threads have new posts.
To all posters: I just want to make sure everyone knows that you all have the option to choose how the threads are displayed. Go to My Control Center, select "edit preferences" and make sure that the box called "Automatically Move New Topics to Top" is selected. This might not make a huge difference right now, but it will eventually when there are more threads. |

Re: pinned threads | ||

Hipp and LaDex (and may I call you LaDex?), thanks. It's odd that there's not a better marking system like the arrows as an option. If we can have a giant Fist at the top of the forums... you know what I'm saying? OK, I'll shut up now.

last post management | ||
|
if you are always using the same computer and you do not restart your computer often (so yay to mac users...and I suppose Win2K and XP users) here is what you can try.
Simply keep the last page you read open. When you come back online, copy the time stamp of the last post you read, and hit reload. Once the page has loaded, command F and command v, hit return (replace command for control for windows) and it will show you the last post you read. This is what I did on the Clubhouse boards last year. So far twop is the only forum that I have ever used that pretty much 99% of the time remembers what messages you have read actually are. |
